OUR STORY
The Swingmasons is a Jazz collective initiated by jazz pianist Mike Nourie in 2014 comprised of talented ambitious working musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our musicians are trained to perfection and share a common desire for technical virtuosity in their personal performance and improvisation.
We initiate our recital by referencing a foundation of standard musical forms handed down to us from previous generations of jazz composers including Duke Ellington, Eubie Blake, Count Basie, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Rollins, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Parker, George Gershwin, and Bill Evans.
Improvisation satisfies the musical and emotional cravings of our listeners as we strive to achieve a free state-of-mind in order to deliver new and wonderful musical abstractions over existing themes.
We encourage all musicians to exceed expectations while staying in harmony with the performance -- preserving individuality while being a part of the whole.
In the words of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, "We hope you will enjoy the show."
